My Work Experience Week at Truffle Shuffle
Hi guys! Iâm Jack and have just finished my work experience at Truffle Shuffle and Iâm going give you a little behind the scenes look into the week of a life here at Truffle Towers so you can see what Iâve been up to.
Monday
Monday was my first day working at Truffle Shuffle and after Iâd been introduced to the gang, I went off to work in the warehouse with Andy and Ron (the Don), picking orders from the shelves and then packaging them for deliver to you lucky lot. After my lunch I carried on doing this until it was time to put all the deliveries into a Royal Mail bag to be counted and taken away, for the rest of the day I opened the fresh new deliveries and put them on the shelves. So that was my first day done and I couldnât wait for what lay ahead.
Tuesday
Today I spent the majority of the morning looking through social networking sites at how TruffleShuffle present themselves to you and I. After this I spent time looking at the website looking for any things that could be improved then presented my ideaâs to head Shuffler Pat. In the afternoon I helped customer services hero Amy go through the returned items and putting them back on the system before going back to the warehouse to open the new deliveries.
Guest Post: Rock Chick vs Geek Chic
Just before Christmas, me and fellow blogger Emily Jayne were discussing our favourite TruffleShuffle 80's t-shirts, as you do. It was interesting to see how although we had similar tastes our personal style is so different. So whereas I was more ârock chickâ, Emily was more âgeek chicâ.
Thatâs the beauty of TruffleShuffle, there is something for everyone. Whether you grew up listening to your favourite punk rock band or watching Neighbours, there is a t-shirt to bring back those good memories!
We thought weâd embrace our individual styles by joining forces for a âRock Chick vs Geek Chicâ photo-shoot, picking a TruffleShuffle tee to take you from day to night. Choosing a t-shirt from TruffleShuffle is always hard because there is SO much choice but in the end I chose a David Bowie t-shirt and Emily a She-Ra Tee. Very fitting for our themes!
For my day look I wore my Bowie tee with some leather look trousers, cowboy boot heels, a camouflaged army jacket and my wolf Spirithood (it kept my head nice and warm)!

What does a Christmas Jumper mean to you?
For me it's not so much the Christmas Jumper but the whole Festive Season. The season brings about a chance for everyone to stretch the boundaries of what is normally publically acceptable, it's a very liberating, fun and exciting feeling to be able to walk into a shop, nip to my local pub or even book into a high end restaurant wearing a garish, Cheesy Christmas Jumper which rather than the ridicule you would expect at any other time of year, sparks cheers, compliments and the much loved 'where did you get that?'.
Guest Post: Going the Distance with Rocky & TruffleShuffle
As you know Iâm a guest blogger on TruffleShuffle.co.uk and it is one of my favourite things about being a blogger. I have so much love for them!
Now the majority of their t-shirts excite me but when I heard they had some new Rocky t-shirts in, man I could not contain my excitement. I absolutely love the Rocky films having grown up watching them. Balboa is a total legend. Before I became a guest blogger for TruffleShuffle, I actually got in touch with them on Facebook asking them to get some Rocky tees in for ladies, a request which was heard. The tee was of the iconic âItalian Stallionâ logo and was given to me as a birthday present by our Steph :)
But one Rocky tee just wasn't going to be enough for meâ¦
The lovely guys at TruffleShuffle knew about my Balboa love and offered to send me the TWO (not one but two!) Rocky t-shirts. Have I told you how much I love them? I was grinning like a Cheshire cat for days! The tees have arrived at a perfect time as Iâm currently on a health kick and have been taking inspiration from the Rocky films. Yes you heard right.
Now I donât have my own Mickey calling me a lousy bum and spurring me on so I went to the next best thing: my iPod. Armed with the Rocky soundtrack I have started my own fitness regime. Gone are the days of âGet Fit or Die Tryingâ (our university regime), its all about âGoing the Distance with Rocky Balboaâ. And so far so good!
Guest Post: What Were They Thinking - Who Inspired the Hottest Fashion Trends of the 80’s?
As far as fashion trends go, it is probably fair to say that no decade is quite as notoriously bad as the 80âs. Can you name any other period where you could get away with wearing skin tight pants one day followed by baggy âMC Hammerâ style pants the next? Not forgetting of course that you could also have been wearing leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all at the same time and probably in electric neon colors as well!
Color was the overriding theme throughout the 80âs and mixing up some of the brightest options together was somehow deemed acceptable, what were we all thinking? Here are some of the great fashion statements that were made during this decade and some of the famous people who wore them and for some reason seemed to inspire us to do the same.
Shoulder Pads
Synonymous with the 1980âs , shoulder pads were THE fashion statement for women who wanted to âPower Dressâ and stand out from the crowd, despite the fact that looking back, they may have looked like an American footballer in a dress when you look at the size of the pads. Joan Collins in Dynasty and even Princess Diana wore their shoulder pads with pride and the look was complete with the big hairdo.
Leg Warmers
Was it really cold outside in the 1980âs, or was there some other reason why they were so popular? Jane Fonda is the main culprit for this fashion faux-pas as she wore them in her workout videos but Madonna and Cyndi Lauper do not escape from blame and neither do the entire cast of âFootlooseâ.
Fingerless Gloves
Guest Post! The Caped Crusader: Yep it’s Batman...
I was VERY tempted to name this blog post âna na na na na na na na na na na na na na na naaa Batman!â because as you have probably realised by now thatâs how mature I am. But thereâs something about superheroes such as Batman that bring out that childish side to you. We all know that the idea of a man getting superpowers after being bitten by a radioactive spider or a man going around dressed as a bat is quite ridiculous yet weâre still enticed and get stupidly excited about this fantasy world.
Perfect example of this is of course âThe Dark Knight Risesâ which is the third and final instalment of Christopher Nolanâs Batman trilogy.
Iâve never seen so many people- of all ages-get so excited by one film. It is definitely a buzz that only certain movies bring. After all, superheroes are amazing. Growing up I used to love watching superhero films such as Superman and Batman. Even TV series such as Wonder Woman and donât laugh...Captain Planet.
Batman is the one superhero that really takes me back to my childhood. Forget the films; I always preferred Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo in the TV series. I can remember watching the TV series during our summer holidays on Channel 4 around 1.30pm! At the time they were so gripping and totally believable. I never questioned the convenient gadgets (there are 100 flights of stairs and the lifts not working...oh wait we can use the Batjet which is conveniently placed in the Batmobile) or the fact that nobody could tell that it was Bruce Wayne as Batman. Who can forget the âBam! Crash! Wallops!â?
It was this cheesy side of Batman that I preferred growing up and despite watching most of the Batman films my allegiance was always to the 1960âs caped crusader. But then Christian Bale happened.
Man heâs beautiful. But forget his beautiful face for a second if you can...it was his dark and suave Batman that got me gripped. Christopher Nolanâs Batman was a far cry from the ones I was used to- and I liked it!
