Guest Post: Take Me Down To The Goblin City, Where The Faces Are Green And Far From Pretty!
Me - Ello!
You - Did you just say âHelloâ?
Me â No, I said âELLO!â, but thatâs close enough! Iâm Jade from The Style Rawr, fashion bloggers extraordinaire and fan girls of everything Truffle Shuffle, nice to meet you! Iâd invite you to come inside to meet the missus but this isnât my blog, and errrâ¦. Iâm not a blue haired, scarf wearing worm in 80âs epic movie Labyrinth!
As a HUGE Labyrinth fan (obvs), I was super excited when Truffle Shuffle asked me if I wanted to check out one of their exclusive Labyrinth T Shirts, the Ladies White You Remind Me Of The Babe Bowie Labyrinth T Shirt - £20, and it inspired me to play a little dress up, just like our teenage heroine Sarah!
SO, ahem . . . (checks lines) . . . Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the garden patio beyond the back kitchen to take back the child that you have stolen. For my pose is as strong as yours, and my style is as great...
Guest Post: Bringing the 80s Back with Fydelity Bum Bags! + Comp!
What comes to your mind when you think about the 1980s? The big hair? Mullets? Retro accessories? Tetris? Saved by the Bell? Some of the best films of all time? (The Goonies - hello!) There so much cheese associated with this decade that people just can't seem to let go of - including the fashion... and the music!
In just under one month's time, the 80s will be brought right to the forefront of people's minds once again with the release of one of the most fun-looking musicals-turned-movies of all time - 'Rock of Ages'! Classics such as 'We built this city', 'Don't stop believin'' and 'Can't fight this feeling' (plus much, much more) will be worming their way into our heads thanks to the likes of Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige and Russell Brand - the stars of this new film.
And the timing couldn't be better really, as 80s fashion seems to have made a comeback; bodycon dresses, denim jackets, plastic jewellery, bum bags - wait, bum bags?
Yes, that is a leather studded bum bag worn by Julianne Hough, one of the stars of 'Rock of Ages', behind the scenes of the film. Accessorising a denim skirt and cowboy boots, this is definitely 80s rock chick! And she's not the only celeb to be rocking (get it!) this style.
She has definitely been influenced by the era's fashion and has sported a tight perm, oversized blazers, high tops and even shell suit jackets in the past - a fanny pack seemed like the next step! Teamed with double denim, she looks casual, comfortable yet still fab! I've always been a bit unsure of the denim on denim look, but I really like this outfit!
However, this is the 80s we are talking about, so there should be some sort of cool, edgy gimmick.... enter Fydelity and their range of working speaker bags - including the bum bag!
Reppin’ the old skool with Fydelity
As many of you know, I have the awesome role of being Truffleshuffleâs guest blogger. Iâve got a lotta love for them and of course EVERYTHING they sell from t-shirts to retro accessories.
When they asked me to review their new range of bum bags⦠I was a little surprised. Bum bags?! When did they come back into fashion? Were they even in fashion? I know we all used to have one back in the day, whether people admit it or not.
It was when I saw a photo of Rihanna rocking one, I thought hey if she can rock it so can I. But even Rihannaâs bum bag wasn't as cool as the one Truffleshuffle sent me. See I knew there would be something more to it than just being a bum bag. This is Truffleshuffle after all. Retro and coolâ¦
As cool as her bum bag is I bet it doesn't play musicâ¦ah yeah!
The bum bag that they sent me is from the brand âFydelityâ which Truffleshuffle.co.uk stock. Like I said these arenât just any bum bags- with built in amplified speakers so you can connect your mp3/iPod/smartphone to it. Itâs a boombox in a bag!
It is literally too cool. There are quite a few colours to choose from including a leopard print one (!) but I resisted and went for a grey one.
Guest Blog Post: TruffleShuffle Sundays
We all need duvet days once in a while, and in my house these tend to happen on a Sunday. Sometimes, I just love to snuggle down, watch a DVD and just generally relax. However, I still like to inject a little Truffle Shuffle style into my comfort zone, so let me share my favourite products for a Truffle Shuffle Sunday.
I have a little girl, and we start our Sundays with her favourite breakfast â egg and soldiers. A classic, right? My girl loves to eat with this amazing Gruffalo breakfast set.
The Gruffalo is one of her favourite books, and so itâs a great way to start the day. It also includes a little mug, which is perfect for a nice warm drink.
Reminisce with the Raggy Dolls
A couple of weeks ago, I turned 24. As someone who is very much still young at heart (I think the correct word is immature!) it suddenly dawned on me that I am getting old! Pretty soon Iâll have to start doing those grown up things that I have been trying to avoid like settling down, saving up instead of spending all my wages on clothes and possibly even getting a mortgage!
So when thoughts like that start entering your head, what do you do? Well you start by reliving your childhood. Those good old days where the only money worries you had was whether you had enough money to buy the latest Smash Hits magazine AND have change for a Hubba Bubba. Oh I miss those daysâ¦
I think TruffleShuffle just totally epitomises how much value we hold to our childhood memories. Itâs not so much whatâs on the t-shirt that excites us but the memories behind that certain TV program, cartoon or film. Am I right?
When I heard that TruffleShuffle were launching a new range of Raggy Dolls t-shirts it immediately brought back memories. The first thing that entered my head was of course the theme tune! âItâs the raggy dolls, raggy dolls, dolls like you and meâ¦â
Itâs strange but I can remember that whole intro in my head despite not having watched it in YEARS.
Being in the reject bin with the Raggy Dolls seemed like more fun than being a âperfectâ doll. Look at all the fun they had! It showed as a young girl growing up that you didnât have to be perfect to fit in- a brilliant social message in a brilliant cartoon.
Love is in the Air!
Hello love bugs,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Miranda, and I am a Manchester girl with a passion for music. I was very much a child of the 90âs â I grew up listening to influential musicians from my hometown such as Morrissey and Oasis and a love of music blossomed from there.
My appreciation of all things retro started at the grand age of 6, when I got my first album. It was a Ramones album, a band that had formed 15 years before I was even born. I even insisted for a time that my family called me âRiffâ in honour of Riff Randall from the 1979 film âRock 'n' Roll High Schoolâ featuring the Ramones. I was a little quirky, perhaps.
I still regularly watch âRock 'n' Roll High Schoolâ, and Iâd consider myself a huge film fan, although my husband is constantly infuriated by my refusal to watch anything new.
âHow about we watch a film? The Kingâs Speech maybe? Itâs supposed to be brilliant.â
âErm, how about we watch Wayneâs World again?â
