My Top 5 Movie Tees
As you may imagine, when people find out I work at T-Shirt emporium TruffleShuffle.com, the first question I'm asked are which are my favourite designs.
Being a self confessed 80's movie buff, I have a particular soft spot for our 80's Movie T-Shirts so I couldn't resist running down my top 5 for you.
Enjoy!
1. Dark Crystal Movie T-Shirts
Inspired of course by one of the best Jim Henson films of my childhood, this awesome The Dark Crystal design is a great way to remember the legendary 80's fantasy flick that terrified and amazed in equal measures. One minute I'd be wide eyed in a world of beautiful fantasy and adventure and the next it would have me hiding behind my pillow from the Evil Skeksis, the bad guys of the film who looked like giant, skeletal crows who'd been dressed in rotting flesh. Imported especially from the US of A, not only do I love this because it pays homage to one of my childhood classics but also because it's one of our rarer designs, only available in limited numbers so you're unlikely to see anyone else walking down the street in the same tee as you. Always a bonus.
From Romance to Bromance - TruffleShuffle's Got It Covered This Valentine's!
TruffleShuffle's one stop guide to movies on the box this Valentineâs day!
So if allâs gone to plan Casanova has swept you off your feet or Prince Charming has melted your heart to a cheesy fondue like substance! You may have received acres of roses, masses of heart shaped chocolates or you were lucky your bloke remembered and made that last minute dash to the petrol station and got you something meaningful and romantic like a rose scented magic tree for your car (hey I try!)
Or maybe you donât believe in Valentine's day at all and youâll ignore everything going on around you because itâs a scam made up by corporate fat cats and big wigs to get you to waste money on rubbish thatâs going to end up in the bin anyway. Whichever category you fall in to Iâll do my best for you if youâre spending Valentine's night in alone or with your partner.
Iâll start with the two most romantic movies on tonight.
First up a film Iâve not seen (it sounds a bit slushy!) âYouâve got mailâ ITV2 7.30pm - two rivals in a bookshop business fall in love over the internet, unaware they know and dislike each other in the real world. With Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Itâs most likely to be like âSleepless in Seattleâ but then Iâve never seen that either (most definitely slushy!) I can however quote Joey from Friends and say âMeg Ryan getâs mail and stuffâ.
Weekend Movie Sofa Challenge 2 – The Sequel
O.k. so two weeks ago I set myself a challenge to watch as many movies as possible over the course of a weekend.
Iâm almost ashamed to say I failed that challenge. I put it down to a short attention span and consuming too much alcohol on Satuday night which meant I got out of bed to find I'd missed most of the day. EPIC FAIL!
Luckily though, all is not lost! Whilst browsing the good old TV guide this week, I noticed that Sky movies sci/fi has a Superman marathon on (not easy at all to say.)
Yes all my fellow wannabe Superheroes, all four Superman movies starring the legendary Christopher Reeves along with Superman Returns are being shown on Sunday from 12:40 pm onwards.
Unfortunately for me however, I don't have Sky nor do I know any one that does, bad times! Never fear though, if youâre in the same boat and need a retro movie smack upside the head this weekend, hereâs an alternative list of old school delights available to you this weekend on good old regular television.
Saturday
Autobots roll out......
If like me you were tranform-erly (is that a word?) neglected as a child because ones parents realised Transformers was a massive marketing ploy by Hasbro to get kids to buy toys and therefore your only transformer was a cheap market knock off 'Santa' got you for Xmas (I never realised Santa was a tight wad), then you'll be pretty excited about the upcoming Transformers dark of the moon movie which is released THIS WEEK!
I know for a fact I am. After watching the first 2 movies without blinking once, I can confirm they were every adult Transformers fans dream (well mine anyway!) I swear I was clinically blinded by all the explosions followed closely by a near motorcycle accident on the way home because I was willing my bike to turn into a giant robot (in case you were wondering, I wanted it to be a decepticon which Iâd name Bones and weâd be awesome together OK.)
Therefore, Iâm expecting more explosions, lasers, guns, giant robots and a few more explosions followed closely by bleeding eyeballs and fits of epilepsy when I leave the cinema for the third instalment of the hugely popular franchise. If that happens, I'll be a happy boy! If it doesn't, those Autobots had better watch out.
