Remembering Round The Twist 12 Years On
It might amaze you (or not) to learn that this very day back in 2001 (which doesn't actually feel too long ago but it's a huge 12 years ago now...eeep) saw the last ever episode of one of our all time favourite TV shows Round The Twist.
This certainly wasn't your average show, my memories of this retro icon that first aired in 1989 are...of course the lighthouse, VERY weird goings on that seemed pretty typical for the place, and above all else...THAT THEME TUNE!
As soon as this classic tune started, you knew you were in for a treat, pretty much anything could happen in the next 25 minutes and it usually did. I seem to recall one episode where someone turned into a giant bird? Just me? Fancy getting this song stuck in your head all day again?? Listen below

Only four series of this wacky show were made despite the show having an 11-year run. The first two series were based on fantasy stories written by author Paul Jennings, the latter two were based on a variety of authors' work. There were a fair few different editions of this show with a second series, with many roles re-cast made in 1992, a third series, again re-cast, was made in 2000, followed by a fourth (with some roles again re-cast) in 2000!
It followed the bizarre lives of the Twist family. Tony Twist (aka Dad) and his three children....the twins, Pete and Linda, and youngest son, Bronson who move from the city to the sea-side village of Port Niranda. They move into an old lighthouse, previously owned by their new neighbour, Nell, and their new lives begin. Strange things happen to the Twist family, strange but hilarious things.
Classic 80s Movie Posters Recreated...With Kids
Here at Truffle Towers, we love a new twist on something classic. Be it a friendly mix of The Godfather and Transformers resulting in our Tronfather T-Shirt, or maybe even a mash up of Pink Floyd and Button Moon giving us our Dark Side of Button Moon T-Shirts, we have always had an eye on other peoples interpretations of the classic films and TV shows from our 'not too distant' past.
On one of our many travels through the weird and wonderful world of cyberspace, we stumbled over some fantastic recreations of classic 80s films posters this time using some cheeky chappies. Utterly adorable, and such a cool idea, take a look at what we found...
Can you think of any other classic retro posters you've love to see getting the same treatment? Let us know with a comment below. :)
Macaulay Culkin Rocks Bristols Thekla!
We've just heard some pretty spectacular news here at Truffle Towers...while we're usually pretty hot on this stuff, this one has been slow to get to us so we apologize :) Anywho, it appears that 80s child sensation and the kid we all wanted to be...in fact still to..came to TruffleShuffles hometown Bristol just a few weeks ago!
Child star was seen belting out Kokomo, when he took to the stage as Adam Greenâs special guest much to the surprise of the gig goers.
A spokesperson for the iconic Bristol venue Thekla, where the remarkable event happened, told papers: âHe just turned up as a surprise guest. Adam said weâd recognise him from Home Alone, but still nobody believed it. When he got on stage it was surreal at first, then people started realising it was him.â
Adam then hugged his famous pal before the duo began singing Kokomo together. Admittedly, we're of course green with envy that we missed this as we'd love to meet our childhood hero for a few extra home security tips at the very least.
Check out this little clip...
Well who'd have thunk it huh! Even more reason for us to get out our awesome Home Alone T-Shirts and show some love in our own special way. Take a look at our designs below...
We've Bean Going Crazy for Mr Bean!
Here at Truffle Towers, following the recent arrival of our very own official Mr Bean T-Shirts weâve bean getting a little obsessed with the comedy legend himself Mr Bean. His troublesome antics have had the whole office in stitches.
His quirky and unique take on life has you watching in wonder and crying with joy as he scrabbles his way out of trouble in the most creative and inventive ways. Kind of like if you combined Charlie Chaplinâs silent slapstick style with the initiative of Mcgyver.
This Clip may explain my point a little clearer
Mr Bean is a true golden crown of British comedy, when you consider his ability to have you rolling on the flood with laughter with barely saying a word, he may even be the Charlie Chaplin of our time! His comedy spans across generations, countries, cultures and is so global despite any language barriers.
So, to help put our Bean cravings at rest, here are five of some of my favourite scenes from the Slapstick McGyver himself Mr Bean....
1)Mr Bean Paints his house
2)Mr Bean Parking Lot
