Retro gaming has never looked so cool!

We’ve just found out about an amazing exhibition that’s happening in far away Los Angeles.  ‘Super I Am 8 Bit’ is a group art show where over 100 artists re-imagine their 80's gaming fantasies, delusions and secret desires via all sorts of media - painting, sculpture, plush, and even some more interactive experimentation.  Get ready to see some classic computer game characters as you've never seen them before!

Check out this awesome flyer for the event, which features some of my favourite characters like Mario, Pac-Man, Sonic and Mega Man all leaping out into action from underneath Princess Peach’s skirt!

This short video shows one of the past events, and is a glimpse of the kind of goodies that you might expect to see at the new 2011 version.  Keep your eyes peeled for a DJ using a GameBoy as a soundsystem!

For more information visit http://iam8bit.com/.  It all sounds right up my street, it’s just a shame it’s so far away!  Here’s hoping that the exhibition can find it’s way to the UK at some point soon, don't keep a Nintendo fan boy waiting…

Ode To The 80's

One of TruffleShuffle's favourite Facebook fans Ashlea Davies has written this amazing poem for us and we wanted to share it with you all as if you are a child of the 80's it will certainly bring back some memories!

The Fresh Prince Of Bell Air,

Is what I really liked,

A true 80's child,

I was totally psyched!

I could rap all the words,

From beginning to end,

Dirty Dancing Remake? How 'Very Hollyrude'!

Leave our favourite 80's films alone! Will they ever learn?

Here at TruffleShuffle we usually have mixed opinions when it comes to classic films being remade, however this time.....it seems we are all singing from the same song sheet!

If, like us you watched Dirty Dancing at least once a month as you were growing up – you’ll join us in thought when we say this iconic film should be left well alone. They can’t re-create moments like these, and even if they could – we wouldn’t want them to!

The new film will be directed by Kenny Ortega – who was the choreographer in the original film (this can only be a good thing.....surely?),  so hopefully he will be able to recreate the smallest spark of magic that existed in the original film. Since then - he has worked with some impressive musicians - among them being Madonna and Michael Jackson.

So who will play Johnny and Baby? If we are to believe the favourites, then it looks like Justin Timberlake and Myley Cyrus may take the lead roles. What I personally love about the original, even from the Iconic 'I carried a Watermelon' moment - is how quirky Jennifer Grey appears in the film. When playing the part of Baby, she wasn't outrageously 'Hollywood' - she was the girl next door, and we loved her for it. When you add Patrick Swayze, in all his rugged glory to the mix - it instantly becomes a winning combination - that we don't think can be created again.

Bert and Ernie will not marry!

While catching up on all the news this week TruffleShuffle spotted an amusing story about two of our favourite Sesame Street characters and just had to share it with you! Sesame Street makers have confirmed that Bert and Ernie, best friends forever will not be getting married as was hoped by fans.

The odd pair first appeared on our screens in 1969 with the intention of teaching children that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Despite numerous campaigns and petitions calling for the couple to get married the Sesame Street show makers have decided that the duo shall remain very good friends!

For now the quirky characters including other Sesame Street friends Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar The Grouch and The Count will continue to entertain 120 million viewers across 140 countries, pretty impressive we think.

With such a huge fan base we thought we would introduce our amazing new collaboration with Sesame Street! Exclusive to TruffleShuffle, each limited edition design has been inspired by old school music iconography for the ultimate in 'Street' fashion. Available in both men's and ladies sizes, which one spins your decks?

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street......?!

Check Out Our Chari-Tee Donations!

Here at Truffle Towers we often receive requests for help with charity events and fundraising. As much as we would like to help everyone (and we have a lot of love to give!) it's not always possible however we wanted to share with you one of the recent requests we were able to help with.

The fabulous idea of “SWISHING”! was explained to us by the Bristol Crisis Service for Women Fundraising Team and we love it. The art of “swishing” involves getting together to swap clothes, shoes, bags and accessories meaning you can get a whole new wardrobe for all your old clobber – recycling at its best!!

As well as a fantastic clothes filled evening the fundraising team are also holding a raffle so we have donated a prize of a gift voucher to be spent on our site so even more reason to join in the swishing fun!

Set up in 1986, Bristol Crisis Service for Women was created to support women in emotional distress. The charity aims to offer support to women in need and particularly to those who self-injure. In the UK at least one in every 15 young people has experience of self-injury and this charity with many volunteer workers offers different forms of continuous support for anyone who needs it. For more information about this worthy charity you can visit their website here and if you would like to contact them for information, help or support you can text, email or call them here.

If any of our fans are in the Bristol area on Saturday 17th September and fancy getting in on the Swishing action as well as supporting a fantastic cause why not pop along - be sure to let us know how you get on!
