5 Reasons We Still Totally LOVE Labyrinth 30 Years On.
It's Labyrinth's 30th birthday and time to rejoice like the legendary David Bowie here!
Can you believe it? The fantasy cult classic that entranced us with its magical maze, wonderfully wacky puppets, ultra-80s soundtrack and the legendary David Bowie in *ahem* those tights (but more on him later) first graced the big screen all the way back in 1986 and it is still one of those precious films that stir up warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. Here at TruffleTowers we may be a little older, a lot greyer and a whole heap wiser (ish), but we still love it â hey, maybe even more than back in the day! â so we felt it was only right to reflect on what makes this movie so magnificent.
So, without further ado, here are our 5 reasons why Labyrinth is still AH-mazing, 30 years onâ¦
David Bowie's majestic presence...
Need we say more? Probably not, but weâre going to anyway. The hair. Those tights. That juggling ability (okay, it wasnât actually him but we reckon he can pull it off with panache). Some SERIOUS swagger. Watching Labyrinth, we fear Bowie, but love him too (obvs) as he brings that unmistakable charisma to the role of Jareth the Goblin King. Who else could steal a baby, make a teenage girl tackle death defying traps (not to mention risk smelling hideous for all time!), attempt to possess her forever and STILL win us over? There were whispers that Prince, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson were considered for the role in the early stages of production but we think itâs impossible to imagine anyone else doing it quite like Bowie.
Labyrinth The Board Game is coming! We catch up with it's creator to find out more...
Jareth: So, the Labyrinth is a piece of cake, is it? Well, let's see how you deal with this little slice...
Labyrinth fans - get EXCITED! As if spoiling you with our range of exclusive Labyrinth Clothing and gifts wasn't enough, we're so excited to tell you more about the new Labyrinth Boardgame which is due for release this Summer, priced at £39.99.

Can you defeat the Labyrinth or will Jareth turn Toby into a goblin babe? You have 13 hours to find out with this epic board game base on the classic Labyrinth movie by Jim Henson. Each player takes on the role of either Sarah, Hoggle, Ludo, or Didymus and much like the film, players have '13 hours' to navigate Jareth's labyrinth to rescue baby Toby. The gameplay is designed to be fast-paced, family friendly, and open for up to four players.
The game consists of two distinct stages, one where the group must adventure through the labyrinth trying to find the goblin city whilst keeping their willpower as high as possible (nobody wants to fall into the oubliette!), and a second action packed stage where the players must fight their way into Jareth's castle where Sarah must say the magical words that will release her brother.
The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 192
Steam in my snorkel! It's only another weekend and time for another classic Retro Movie Rundown. Oh how we spoil you!
Like a keen and adventurous swimmer, we find ourselves suiting up for another dip into the cold and unforgiving Atlantic ocean. We'll paddle out before scouting out the coastline for what mysterious creatures and plant life may lurk in the depths. Will there be crabs? Will there be fish? Only time, patience and some very cold hands will tell.
Have a happy retro weekend!
