Helping to establish the world before the main events of the dark psychological drama series Twin Peaks, David Lynch wrote and released the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me following the series' conclusion in 1992, tracing the murder of one of the series' main protagonists, Laura Palmer.
