Our Classic Childhood Toys and Games, Then and Now!

We've all got cherished memories of the favourite toys we had when we were growing up and here at TruffleShuffle we are dedicated to bringing these memories flooding back to you with a collection of great Games T-Shirts and Toys T-Shirts.  I am going to take you lucky people on a trip down memory lane with this blog post and then bring you bang up to date as I take a look at some of our favourite toys and games we had when we were younger and what those toys look like now, some of them have evolved in very interesting ways...

My Little Pony first trotted onto the scene in 1983 and was instantly popular with little girls all over the world.  First arrivals included Blossom, Cotton Candy, Minty and Snuzzle and there have been many more additions over the years including fan favourites such as Applejack, Princess Sparkle and Lickety Split.  The cute and girly look of these toys are instantly recognisable and synonymous with the 80s!

My Little Pony has evolved over the years, but the most radical makeover came in the form of My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic which launched in 2010.  These ponies have been given a new Japanese inspired style and have gained a whole new fan base of boys and girls of all ages.  The 'Brony' fandom are a passionate lot and their community has made sure that the love for My Little Pony is still going strong after all these years.

We African't Believe These Classic Movie Posters!

Now there's no shocked faces among those of you reading this that we're huuuuuge 80s films lovers which of course inspired our simply epic range of Movie T-Shirts *wink wink*. Being raised at possibly one of the most exciting decades for cinema (not biased at all!), with huge special affects looking ever more real 'ahem' and the stories taking us into far and distant lands where anything and everything was possible, we're sure that the 80s was THEEE time that brought about some of the most iconic films that even today people can get excited about watching.

During this rose tinted time, the western world was pretty sure footed in its cinema going days, sadly however in the African country of Ghana and other surrounding countries, the film industry was only really just taking off.

With very little disposable income available to most people, the idea of building big cinema complexes seemed like a distant dream (and sadly still is in a lot of areas). So! Instead, small companies would go around with portable TVs, video players and a bag full of videos, visiting every town or village in turn, with film 'screenings' taking place in schools during the day, and outside at night.

Now to really bring in the crowds, these little pop up screens would commission artists to re-create some of the most iconic movie posters to advertise what they would be showing. This has resulted in some pretty amazing takes on the classics which is what we'd like to show you know......sit back and enjoy!

4th Jurassic Park Film Uncovered....With New Name!

Anyone who's anyone has seen and LOVED the classic Jurassic Park (no rhyme intended) movies from back in our youth...or what we like to call the glory days of films. Not that we're biased at all!

These films are still some of our all-time favourites and we're pretty sure will still be as much loved by us when we're kicking it in the nursing homes as they were back when we thought the Sega was the pinnacle of gaming. Actually we kind of still do :)

Because of recent troubles with the Pirates of the Caribbean film, which is being delayed while writers wrestle with the screenplay, it seems this has created some time and space for Colin Trevorrow, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to set to work on the next Jurassic Park script! Woop!

But it's back with a twist! Yep Universal Pictures has announced the next instalment will carry the title of Jurassic Word instead of its classic title. New title or not, this film comes our way a whopping 14 years after the last release, Jurassic Park III, and 22 years after the original in 1993.

Jurassic World will hit cinemas in June 2015 and while Steven Spielberg will sadly not be directing, he'll be an executive producer so something to hold onto there. The film’s new 2015 release comes in a pretty darn competitive year for blockbuster films too, with the new Batman-Superman combo film, the next installment of the Star Wars franchise from Disney and of course the new Avengers: Age of Ultron all due for release. What a year!
