Kick off your Sunday Shoes!

With Footloose hitting our cinemas (for the second time!) next month, it only seemed fair that we watch the original again in preparation. We had forgotten just how amazing it is!

What will be the outcome with the remake!? As always – the TruffleShuffle office is split. Some of us are wishing they would leave our classic movies alone – with others being quite excited to see the modern take on such an old hit.

Back in 1984 – Footloose introduced us to Kevin Bacon – bringing him into a small town where dancing had been outlawed. His character Ren, a city boy – falls in love with the daughter of a preacher (who actually instituted the ban!) and together – the two lovers cause havoc throughout the town.

With some cheese filled scenes like this - it’s no real surprise that it reached the list of top 80's Movies!

The remake has been in the works since 2008 – first of all ‘heartthrob’ Zac Efron was in line to fill the dancing shoes of Bacon, however Kenny Wormald is now playing the lead roll. Like Kevin Bacon in ‘84, he hasn’t really been in any major productions – so hopefully this will be a good time to shine and woo the critics. The rest of the cast seems pretty impressive, with Dennis Quaid playing the strict Preacher.

We’ve included the trailer for the 2011 film......let us know what you think?

As a TruffleShuffle night out - we will definitely be checking out the film, and most DEFINITELY rocking one of these awesome t-shirts!

Return to the Goblin City, our new Labyrinth collection!

It’s been an exciting week here at Truffle Towers, mainly thanks to the long awaited launch of our brand new, official and exclusive range of Labyrinth T-shirts. It’s something we’ve wanted to be able to represent on the site for what feels like years so getting the opportunity to work closely with the amazing Jim Henson Company to create our very own tribute range has been totally awesome in every way. We’ve been tweaking and perfecting this collection over the last few months so it’s been such a great feeling to finally unleash the tees to all you TruffleShufflers and we are so happy with the fantastic response they’ve all received!

As one of the designers of the range, it was a great experience to return to the fantastical world of the Goblin City and really get under the skin of one of the all-time ultimate 80’s classics! We started with David Bowie and his genius turn as the Goblin King Jareth and we were of course inspired by his outrageous fashion (those skin tight leggings made a particularly big impression…) and the ultra catchy song from the film (Dance Magic Dance!). After playing with lots of ideas, we plumped for a really cool flyer style design for what would clearly be the coolest club night in the world! Check it out below….

We also had to feature Ludo, the bumbling best friend we wish we all had, and of course that cute cheeky worm who was always around to say “Ello!”

Although we knew you guys loved the worm as much as we did, even we were surprised by just how much – this design pretty much sold out after 24 hours on the site and has even been snapped up by the fabulous Una Healy from The Saturdays who even tweeted a pic of her wearing it!

Great Scott! Back for the Future???

Being a child of the 80s meant that I grew up being 'WOWed' by a whole host of amazing movies such as Goonies, E.T, Labyrinth and Ghostbusters. But there is one movie that I watched so much I managed to wear out the VHS tape, this movie was Back to the Future 2.

If you haven't ever seen Back to the Future 2, where have you been?

The story is about a character called Marty McFly who has only just got back from the past (Back to the Future), when he is picked up by Dr. Emmett Brown in his DeLorean time machine and sent through time to the future, 2015 to be precise. Marty's job in the future is to pose as his son to prevent him being thrown in prison. Unfortunately, things get worse when the future changes the present. Check out the original trailer below...

Being a car and gadget obsessed youngster there were a whole host of reasons to make me excited about this movie, the DeLorean time machine now being able to fly, Hover Boards, pretty much everything to do with 2015 (The future looks amazing) but there is one thing in this movie I remember wanting more than anything else. Marty McFly's Nike Sneakers! The light-up emblem and power laces blew me away. These are the best shoes never made....

Not any more..... 22 years later and Nike have (kind of) made my dreams come true with the 2011 Nike MAG....

Nike MAG Sneakers

Want to know more about these famous sneaks? Well, The glowing LED panel is there as is the electroluminescent NIKE logo on the strap. The foam support in the ankle and toe box have been increased for comfort which differs from the original in the “Back to the Future” movie. The MAG can be illuminated by pinching the corner of the high top. The feature itself makes it the first rechargeable footwear from Nike. Each shoe holds a five hour charge.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

This week we've just launched a brand new collection of Ghostbusters T-shirts from Fame and Fortune.  Of course this got everyone in the office buzzing, but I was most excited of all cause designing these Tees was my first ever project for TruffleShuffle!  Seeing the final results of my work is such a great feeling and it took me back to when I had just started working here as a designer.  For me there couldn’t have been a more perfect starting point as I am a huge fan of the classic film, I remember that I couldn’t wait to get started!

The first step towards building a new collection of tees is to really research your subject, so luckily for me it was the perfect opportunity to spend an evening in and watch the film again for the 100th time, any excuse will do!  I knew there were a number of bases I had to cover, everyone loves Stay Puft, Slimer is a definite and we really wanted to see the Ecto-1, but it was really useful (and fun) to see the film again as it refreshed my mind and reminded me of some really classic catchphrases and scenes.  It was the best way to get me back in the Ghostbusting state of mind!

As well as the ultra popular “Who ya gonna call?” and “I ain’t afraid of no ghost” I loved the phrases “Don’t cross the streams” and “When the light is green the trap is clean” and was determined to get them included on one of the tees!

I also included the Ghostbusters Montage design to show our four heroes fighting against some of the monsters from the film as well as a special appearance from the ghost best know from the films main logo!

The day our all our Truffle Shuffle-ing dreams came true!

So for those of you who don't know, here at TruffleShuffle.com, we're named after the one and only TruffleShuffledance, as performed by the incomparable Chunk from The Goonies.......

Yes, our founder loved the iconic movie so much that when it came to coming up for a name for the site back in 2004, Chunk's classic belly shaking move was the only choice and hence TruffleShuffle.com was born.

With that in mind, you can imagine our absolute amazement to discover that none other than Jeff B Cohen AKA the man who played Chunk over 25 years ago is following us on twitter!

MENTAL!

We've even tweeted each other and were completely honoured to send him some of our official Goonies tees including this one of course....
