Celebrate Your Inner Geek With YouTube's Geek Week!

That's right folks! Following the success of YouTube’s Comedy Week earlier this year, Google's video sharing powerhouse  is celebrating the best of nerd culture this week and is honouring the special occasion with some amazing original content and promoting the current most loved geeky channels and people around.

Pushing aside views of funny cats, fail compilations and skateboarding dogs, each day takes a different direction of geekery, celebrating a different slice of nerdy life and culture, whether it’s science, the supernatural, or superheroes, all created by the most popular content creators and channels.

One of the highlights (among many) of this cool event includes an amazing new remake of the hit show Kightmare...remember that? Check out some new contestants taking on the challenge to exit the dungeon...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74r-EbIqt9s

The episode has been produced by the original show's creator Tim Child and stars comedian Isy Suttie and actor Jessie Cave. This all new episode sees four modern-day YouTubers taking on the roles of the contestants. So good to see this show live and kicking again :)

With so much to be seen this week and of course whenever you hearts desire after the event, there are a lot of fantastic channels, people and things to be discovered whatever you're into.

We love TruffleShuffle tees just as much as you do!

Working for the biggest online retailer of cool t-shirts, we see our fair share of amazing tees hit the shelves...! But which ones have stuck out? Do we have a favourite..and why do we love them so much? I've grabbed 10 minutes with a few of my favourite TruffleShufflers and asked them about their fashion tee-ndencies while they've worked here, and what generally makes them tick when it comes to the world of retro! Enjoy!

First up is James, the designer for TruffleShuffle (he's the one responsible for all the cool t-shirts - so we should probably take 5 minutes to applaud his geniusness!)

Out of Print t-shirts

Favourite t-shirt ever produced? - Old Skool Gamer T-Shirt.  I've been a massive computer game fan since I was about 10, so to get the opportunity to design a T-Shirt featuring all my favourite consoles and controllers was a bit of a treat.

Favourite range you've ever designed? - Sesame Street is always really fun to work with, they've got such a versatile range of characters and we're always allowed to do quite weird and wonderful things with them.  Whether we've got Elmo and the gang crossing Abbey Road, joining a rock group or even recreating the Trainspotting movie poster they always make it look cool!

What was your first t-shirt ever purchased from TruffleShuffle? - My first T-Shirt from TruffleShuffle was one featuring Pac-Man and one of the Ghosts taking over Tokyo, it managed to look retro and modern at the same time and is still one of the favourite items in my wardrobe!  It came from Chunk clothing who are always experts in doing weird mash ups with their characters.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Tracy Island Build is GO!!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Thunderbirds are go! This week sees a new addition to our FAB collection of Thunderbird T-Shirts. This wicked tee, features some our favourite sci-fi puppets, from The Thunderbirds in a cool, beatles-eque album cover design. Inspired by the famous With The Beatles cover, this print features the faces of Brains, Parker, Lady Penelope, and Scott in a cool black and white photographic effect. A perfect addition to your collection of cool t-shirts!!

No collection of retro TV tees would be complete without at least one great Thunderbirds tee, so to celebrate the launch of this new design we thought we'd take you back a time when a shortage of Tracy Islands in the run up to Christmas saw a famous Childrens TV Show show you how to avoid the disappointment of not having a Tracy Island by making your very own.... My guide is made up from a mix of the Perfect Housewife Extrodinare Anthea Turner's Blue Peter show and the very helpful Bluepeter Fact Sheet.

Having heard stories of the build taking weeks if not months, due to collecting all the various bits and bobs, waiting for things to dry etc. Needless to say this isn't a project to take lightly or one that you can do in a week, it takes a lot of patience and determination but would be completely worth it at the end.

Classic Movie Cars Go Under The Hammer

This week at Truffle Towers we've gone all 'car'azy with the exciting news that some of the most iconic retro movie cars have been sort of re-discovered and are being put up for sale!

Two of our most favouritist cars ever, the while Lotus Esprit from James Bond's The Spy Who Loved Me AAAAND the infamous Ferris Bueller based on the Ferrari 250 GT California (dreamy!), which although is a replica, still has an impressive 500 ponies in the stable to help get you down the road. Not bad eh!

1962 Ferrari 250 GT California

This car is such a huge part of the film and anyone who has seen it (hopefully you lovely lot!), knows and loves this car. Three replicas were built in just four weeks for this film and they didn't really get treated too well as we know :/

In 2010, DJ and The One Show presenter Chris Evans paid an amazing £12m (yes...12 million!) for a genuine 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO which makes it one of the most expensive cars...EVER!

If this is perhaps a little rich for you, you can always pick up one of our official Ferris Bueller T-Shirts for only £19.99...
