My Work Experience Week At TruffleShuffle | By Louis

Hey Truffle fans! Iain here from the marketing crew. The 'cool' crew, as everyone refuses to call us despite asking.

We have been lucky enough this week to have the awesome Louis come and join our team as his work experience time through school.

We've all really enjoyed having Louis with us this week and getting to share a little about how the wheels at TruffleShuffle HQ turn. Everything from how we pack and ship orders, continue to create amazing products, to how we strive to market them in creative and eye-catching ways. Hopefully!

Louis has been so enthusiastic, getting stuck into all parts of the business with a great attitude and interest.

His last project was a blog post about his week so... without further ado, here it is. Enjoy!

Monday

Monday was my first day at TruffleShuffle. On Monday, I learnt how to pick and pack orders. One thing I enjoyed about picking and packing the orders was seeing the variety of products that TruffleShuffle offers.

One thing that I learnt from Monday was that TruffleShuffle has loads of various products, for example, their Loungefly bags and exclusive items. I would say that my favourite products that TruffleShuffle offers are the graphic t-shirts this because they have so many distinctive designs.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, Claire took me to Desklodge in the heart of Bristol to see the buying and design team. I really enjoyed going to Desklodge to join the buying and design team, because I got to see the amount of work and creativity that goes into just one singular product.

It was really interesting being able to see the behind-the-scenes of what goes into designing products. Desklodge was a very cool office space which had loads of different themes, which made working there interesting and unique. I am really excited to see the new products that are being released soon.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, my task was to create a mood board in the morning.

I really enjoyed making this because it made me use my current fashion knowledge to create a mood board full of different and unique clothing designs, for example, varied materials, textures, and prints.

After making this, I presented it to Claire (Founder) and Aby (Brand Director) which brought up some interesting conversations about new design ideas.

In the afternoon, I had a call with Jess, who is involved with a customer persona project. It was really interesting talking to her about how TruffleShuffle markets various products to different groups of people. We discussed how TruffleShuffle could appeal to younger people and become more of a trend in the younger generation.

After this, the photographer Lee gave me a tour of his studio and showed me some very cool photoshoots and upcoming ideas. It was interesting seeing how much goes into taking the photos... it is a lot more than you think!

After this, I went home but came back out with the team at 5pm to see the new Jurassic World film at the cinema. It was an incredibly fun experience going out with the team and watching the film together.

Thursday

On Thursday morning, I continued to create a new and improved mood board, which involved more unique designs and materials.

After this, I helped with re-folding returned items and putting them back on the shelves with the customer service team.

Later that day, I joined in with the marketing meeting which was interesting because I got an insight into what goes into how TruffleShuffle customers find TruffleShuffle and what makes customers buy from TruffleShuffle.

I enjoyed this meeting because it made me think of aspects of business that I did not know about before joining the meeting, for example, how they set up for events and how they make their stalls attractive to customers.

Towards the end of the meeting, I presented my new and improved mood board to the marketing team. This was interesting because it sparked up some conversations about innovative ideas and inspiration for future products.

After this, I went into the photography studio with Lee, this was to photograph the new glow-in-the-dark Loungefly bag.

This was a very cool experience because a lot more goes into taking photos of the bag, because it glows in the dark. For example, we had to slow down the shutter speed of the camera so that we could capture the bag glowing.

After we took photos of the bag, I took some photos of a t-shirt, and Lee gave me a step-by-step guide on how to take good photos of t-shirts. This included making sure there are no creases in the t-shirt and making sure all the tags are tucked into the t-shirt.

It was really fun taking photos of the t-shirts because you get to play with the lighting and the positioning on the t-shirt.

Friday (my final day)

On Friday, my final task was to write a blog about my time at TruffleShuffle. I have really enjoyed writing my blog because I have been able to reflect on my time at TruffleShuffle and everything that I have learnt.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the whole TruffleShuffle team!

I have really enjoyed joining TruffleShuffle for my work experience because it has really opened my eyes to new opportunities and has let me experience a week at work while making it fun and interesting.

I would also like to thank everybody for making me feel very welcome!
