Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie Review
If there's ever been an excuse to pop open the bolly, the triumphant return of our favourite gruesome twosome in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is it!
What's it all about, darling?
When the star-studded fashion show intro against the thumping beat of Jason Derulo's Get Ugly began, we already knew we were in for a treat! The film has all the partying, booze, crazy fashion, naughtiness and 'sweetie darlings' galore we all know and love from the TV series but now there's the Gen Y additions of DIY Botox and a social media whirlwind, with selfies and Tweets aplenty, which Eddie struggles to understand. ("Do you feed my Twitter?" she asks at one point, mystified!)
The ladies are just as ludicrous yet somehow lovable as back in the 90s - the first crisis of the film is "Where is the champagne?!" (nothing's changed!). Patsy is a fashion editor and Eddie has become something of a washed up PR. A book deal flop prompts even more of a crisis than usual from flappy Edina leading to *SPOILER ALERT!* (though we feel you may have had to be living under a rock not to know this) accidentally knocking Kate Moss into the Thames - as you doâ¦
So what did TruffleShuffle think, sweeties?
We're pleased to report that the heavy-drinking dysfunctional duo are as amazing as ever, with most of the flick's laugh-out-loud moments coming from Eddie and Pats. Joanna Lumley is on top form as chain-smoking, incredibly selfish, platinum-doed bad influence Patsy. When the pair need to make a 'serious plan' to leave the country, it somehow results in drug and vodka-fuelled chaos with Patsy in the mix; she sells Saffy's daughter Lola as a cleaner in Cannes and poses as a man to inherit a rich woman's fortune courtesy of a dodgy looking stick-on moustache!
5 Reasons We Still Totally LOVE Labyrinth 30 Years On.
It's Labyrinth's 30th birthday and time to rejoice like the legendary David Bowie here!
Can you believe it? The fantasy cult classic that entranced us with its magical maze, wonderfully wacky puppets, ultra-80s soundtrack and the legendary David Bowie in *ahem* those tights (but more on him later) first graced the big screen all the way back in 1986 and it is still one of those precious films that stir up warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. Here at TruffleTowers we may be a little older, a lot greyer and a whole heap wiser (ish), but we still love it â hey, maybe even more than back in the day! â so we felt it was only right to reflect on what makes this movie so magnificent.
So, without further ado, here are our 5 reasons why Labyrinth is still AH-mazing, 30 years onâ¦
David Bowie's majestic presence...
Need we say more? Probably not, but weâre going to anyway. The hair. Those tights. That juggling ability (okay, it wasnât actually him but we reckon he can pull it off with panache). Some SERIOUS swagger. Watching Labyrinth, we fear Bowie, but love him too (obvs) as he brings that unmistakable charisma to the role of Jareth the Goblin King. Who else could steal a baby, make a teenage girl tackle death defying traps (not to mention risk smelling hideous for all time!), attempt to possess her forever and STILL win us over? There were whispers that Prince, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson were considered for the role in the early stages of production but we think itâs impossible to imagine anyone else doing it quite like Bowie.

10 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About… The Princess Bride
Action-packed, funny and light-hearted, it's not wonder that 1987's The Princess Bride is still as much loved now s it has ever been. Being packed with sooo many classic quotes including that one has possibly helped just a touch too!
So! Let us dive head first into the pool of frankly inconceivable facts about this classic with our 10 Things You (Probably) Didnât Know About The Princess Bride. Enjoy!
1. Neither Cary Elwes or Mandy Patinkin had any sword-fighting experience before filming. Both trained rigorously, and every frame of Inigo and Westleyâs sword fight on The Cliffs of Insanity is actually the two actors.
2. The music came with a quirky catch.
Director Rob Reiner wanted Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits to write the music for the movie. He agreed, on one condition: That Reiner put the hat that he wore in âThis Is Spinal Tapâ in the film. He did, and it appears in the grandsonâs bedroom.

Now, when a lot of people think of the 70s they might conjure up visions of huge flares, space hoppers, dodgy haircuts and hot summer festivals. This is pretty spot on really but for us there is one perhaps defining thing that jumps straight into our heads....Blondie!
Even just saying the name has some of the most iconic beats ringing in our ears which seem to then always be stuck there for a little while.............ahh sorry!
