A Look Back In Time: Casio First Founded Today in 1957!
Possibly THE biggest retro brand ever, Casio has been a household name for a long as we can remember. When it came to gadgets in the 80s, 90s and well...even today, it's hard to think of some of the most iconic products without something from this
.
Perhaps not one of the best and most successful launches ever known to man, Casio's first attempt at wowing potential customers pretty much ended in failure. Boarding the plane to their very first product reveal, two of the founding Kashio brothers quickly learned that their super delicate and high-tech calculator was simply too large for them to take onto the plane...
.
A quick solution was to remove the top part of the contraption, which, much to the brother's dismay, would irreparably damage it.

Cowabunga! 10 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
In celebration of our fab new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-Shirts and in anticipation of the release of the brand new reboot film which hits our shores on 17th October we are dedicating this blog post to Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello. I am proud to present to you 10 things you (probably) didn't know about everyone's favourite ass-kicking reptiles.
1. The turtles started life as a brainstorming session between friends Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in 1983, they found the idea of a slow, cold-blooded reptile with the speed and grace of a Japanese ninja very funny and the concept grew from there. Using money from a tax refund and borrowing from Kevin's uncle they formed Mirage Studios and self published the very first issue of the Turtles comic. From humble beginnings...
2. This original comic series was actually pretty adult, the turtles would slash and stab their enemies with their weapons and they even killed off Shredder in the first issue! They even liked to drink a spot of booze and throw around a swear word or two, but then don't we all! Shredder was brought back to life in 1987 when he became the Turtle's arch nemesis.
3. Shredder was inspired by Kevin Eastmen seeing a large cheese grater and inquiring "Can you imagine a character with weapons on his arms like this?"

Mamma Mia! 10 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About... Mario!
In honour of the absolutely amazing eighth instalment of the Mario Kart series and our fab new Mario T-Shirts, we have decided to pay tribute to Nintendo's finest icon. As a long time gamer since the NES days myself, I am very proud to present to you '10 things you (probably) didn't know about Mario!'
1 - Mario's first appearance was in the game Donkey Kong but he was originally named Jumpman. Nintendo must have realised their hero was deserving of something better and his name was changed because of an uncanny resemblance to the landlord of Nintendoâs US office, Mario Segale, who had been busy chasing Nintendo for rent money!
2 - Donkey Kong was originally intended to be a Popeye game but Nintendo couldn't secure the rights so had to create their own cast of characters. Popeye was replaced with Mario (or Jumpman), Olive Oyl with Pauline (the damsel in distress) and Bluto with Donkey Kong, a legacy was born!
3 - Mario was originally a carpenter when he appeared in Donkey Kong. Since then he became better known as a plumber but has also been a doctor, kart racer, archaeologist, referee, golfer, tennis star, typing tutor and many others. Has he no ends to his talents!
