The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 10!

Yay! Weekend time again folks, Thank the god of weekends because they have packed it to the brim for us movie loving geeks. From adventuring archaeologists, teenage wizardry, shrimp boat captains, teenage romantics and firemen, it’s a fine time to stay in with us so put your feet up and completely immerse yourself in this weekends retro extravaganza. SATURDAY 30th JUNE

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) BBC1 London 6:30pm-8:20pm (1 hour 50 minutes)

Intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones goes in search of the legendary Ark of the Covenant, a biblical artefact of devastating power. His quest leads him to Egypt, where the Nazis are plotting to use the Ark's power to further Hitler's plans for world domination - aided by Jones' deceitful French rival. Steven Spielberg's action adventure, with Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman and John Rhys-Davies.

The young wizard struggles to convince his fellow sorcerers that the evil Lord Voldemort has returned to life. When Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore is ousted in favour of a sadistic replacement, Harry realises he must take matters into his own hands, uniting his fellow pupils to form a secret army and training them for the inevitable confrontation to come. Fantasy adventure sequel, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Gary Oldman, Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman.

When TruffleShuffle Hit New York!

Today just last week I was lucky enough to be standing at the front of The Statue of Liberty herself as she gazed across the bay. Believe me I never thought I'd be saying that!

Oh yes, my week long Manhattan NYC adventure saw me up the Rockefeller Center (night) and Empire State (day), shopping in Soho, eating breakfast in Times Square of a morning, walking the High Rise, navigating Central Park, and more! What a dream!

Being such a huge retro fan (obviously) one thing that I was always on the look out for was the retro 80s fashion scene over in the states. Being my first time over the pond, I really didn't know what to expect. Would be be popular? Would they love all the same films and characters?

What awaited me when I hit the streets of Soho was simply amazing! Working at the wonderful world of TruffleShuffle had meant that I'm now pretty accustomed to seeing a huge amount of awesome tees, but this left me standing wide eyed and open mouthed like something out of a cartoon. No really!

The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 9!

It seems like this summer it’s almost impossible to get away from watching some form of sporting event, like the agony of watching England play in the euro’s, Wimbledon’s upon us this weekend and in the not so distant future the Olympics start in case you missed that bloke you never met running down your street carrying a torch! So, like a fat kid avoiding P.E I’ve faked a note from our mother excusing us from any physical activity and we fully expect to get away with it too. If you would like to join us on the proverbial side lines we have a mean packed lunch full of  gooey retro goodness and creamy nostalgia to get your movie loving fangs stuck into. Hope you enjoy!

This week we weren’t expecting to find much in the way of interesting retro-esque films on telly because of the football. So we were pleasantly surprised at what was on offer. If singing nuns, teenage detectives or Swayze’s ever gyrating hips sound like your brand of cup o’tea then this weekend’s retro movie rundown is right up your road.
