Chunk – A great British t-shirt brand!
Hi my nameâs Simon and Iâm a Chunkaholic. There I said it. Now, If you havenât come across any of our menâs T-shirts from Chunk then youâre in for a right treat. Iâll start with a quick history lesson...
Chunk started back in 2001 having launched some designs all based on the Haynes Car Manuals iconic cover illustrations. Ten years on and Chunk is now one of the UKâs leading urban street-wear labels. Chunkâs ethos was, and still is, to produce great designs on quality garments, targeting 18-35 year old males with a strong emphasis on cool nostalgia. Famous for their bold graphics, tongue-in-cheek humour and unique design quirks, Chunk now has worked with some of the biggest licenses in the world, which include Marvel, Hanna Barbera, Fremantle Media (Danger Mouse) and Lucas Films (Star Wars) â for which Chunk won a licensing award in 2007 for its Star Wars range. The future promises to be incredibly bright for Chunk as the brand expands into even more retro goodness further cementing its reputation as a great British brand.
With TruffleShuffle.com offering a massive range of amazing retro t-shirts, gifts and accessories we get to see cool new stuff all the time. But for me nothing matches the excitement of a new Chunk catalogue turning up because I know it will be full of amazing new designs. Itâs their âoutside the boxâ approach to designing a t-shirt that I love, generally taking a familiar character such as Darth Vader or Mr.T and putting them in an unusual situation, ITâS GENIUS. I could only wish that when Iâm down at the coast for a cheeky weekend surf that I catch a Stormtrooper âout the backâ riding that perfect wave or driving past my local scrap yard would reveal that Mr.T, Luke and Bo Duke, Michael Knight and the Trotters famous âridesâ had reached the end of their lives (probably due to the government Scrappage scheme!!). Only t-shirts from Chunk make this happen.
Hereâs some of my current favourites T-shirts from Chunk that you can buy RIGHT NOW!
Transformers 3 Trailer - Awesome Stunts
Most of the cast from the first two films have been revived, the most notable absentee is Megan Fox after her character Mikaela was dropped for this film. English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has replaced Fox as Sam's love interest in the new film.
If the trailer is anything to go by then the film is going to be packed full of action and awesome special effects, if you have not seen the trailer then check it out now:
You may have spotted the flying men jumping out of the aircraft during the trailer and thought it looked impressive, well it might seem even more impressive when you learn that they actually did this for real in Chicago, truly amazing stunts:
Are you looking forward to Transformers 3? Do you think it will live up to the previous two? What are your thoughts on Fox being replaced by Huntington-Whiteley?
--Also, don't forget to get your Transformers t-shirts in time for the films release! We will be disappointed if you are not wearing one when you go to see the film!
Cycling Superheroes
Being a keen cyclist I was pedalling my way across the world wide web the other night when I came across some some fantastic illustrations by graphic designer/illustrator/fellow bike fiend Mike Joos.
If like me, you grew up reading comics you'll know some superheroes can fly through the air, some can scale skyscrapers and others can metamorphose into other beings. However, I don't remember them ever resorting to riding bicycles! Joos, has created the funny side of these superheroes with these illustrations in which each character rides a customized bike. What is even more clever is that each of the bicycles is somehow connected to the character that sits on it.
See a selection of our favourite bike-themed Joos pieces below:

A Corrie Encounter!
This Tuesday our intrepid Buyer, Lucy and Digital Marketing Guru, Si boarded a heavily laden (with amazingly cool tees) motor and headed up to Manchester for the Lipsy retreat. A few long, diverted through country lanes miles later we arrived at the rather glam looking Great John Street Hotel. Right opposite the ITV Granada Studios, we could just about spot the red brick Chimneys of Coronation Street peeping through the gates and as we passed through the herd of paparazzi and into the main doors, we have to admit we felt a little bit like minor celebrities ourselves!
Upon arrival, we met the exuberant and gorgeous Katie, our PR agent extraordinaire who was ready and waiting with huge smiles to get our fabulous merchandise displayed for the occasion. The Lipsy retreat brings together a whole host of fab brands, giving us a chance to meet our celeb fans in the flesh! We had tons of fun and managed to get a few great pics of the day.
The Super'est Auction in the World!
Stop what you're doing, pack an overnight bag, and get yourself on the next flight to the US of A...
The American Superhero Museum, based in Indianapolis, housed around 1,000 collectables, artefacts, props and costumes from the Superman and Batman TV shows and movies from the 1950's onwards. In 2008, the museum closed without explanation and a 2010 Court Order has demanded that the memorabilia be auctioned on January 22nd, 2011.
Some of our tips for the highest bids are original Superman costumes worn by George Reeves, Christopher Reeves and Dean Cain. We've seen similar originals selling in a memorabilia shop in Las Vegas for between £25,000 and £50,000. One of Helen Slater's original Supergirl costumes is going under the hammer, as is a replica Batboat and Batmobile - brand new replica Batmobiles are currently selling for £100,000.

So if you've got a few thousand quid burning a hole in your pocket, get yourself to Indianapolis, bid on something fun, and let us know what the cabin crew said when you flew home wearing an original Christopher Reeve £50,000 Superman costume. Alternatively, if you're planning on sailing the Batboat back home, we'll be your First Mate!!
For details of the other items available at the auction, click here. If you fancy a cheaper alternative, pick yourself up a TruffleShuffle Superman Costume and tell everyone it's the real deal, we promise we won't tell a soul!
