Shiver me timbers! Raft Race Results Are In!
So as you may know if you read our blog post last week, this Sunday, the TruffleShuffle team took part in the Portishead Raft Race!
The aim was to raise as much money as possible for the RNLI Portishead Lifeboat and have a bit of fun at the same time.
Well you'll be glad to hear we succeeded on both counts and we were thrilled to come away with two prizes, one for 'Best Designed Raft' and the second (and most important in our opinion) for most money raised by a team.
We raised a whopping £3,241 for the Portishead Lifeboat and we'd like to say a huge thank to you to everyone who sponsored us. We really can't tell you how much we and the RNLI appreciate every penny.
Now for the bad news, despite the best efforts of our valiant crew, we came second to last in the actual raft race! Although our raft looked pretty damn awesome (even if we do say so ourselves,) it turned out our home made paddles were pretty useless and the whole raft was pretty wobbly once in the water; cue plenty of capsizes and lots of wet sailors. Shiver me timbers - quite literally!
10 Things You [Probably] Didn't Know About…Kellogg's
For as long as we'd like to remember, each morning we've been joined around the breakfast table by one special brand....Kellogg's!
Creators of some of the most iconic cereals and adjoining characters, Kellogg's have been the boys to beat in the cereal game and are as much a household staple now as they have been for the last 100 years.
Inspired by their greatness and of course our fond memories through the years of some of our favourite bowls of retro deliciousness, we've just gotten our hands on some amazing new Kellogg's merchandise including notebooks, lip balms, keyrings, erasers and much much more!
To help really get into the spirit, we've decided to base one of our classic 10 Things You Didn't Know About⦠blog posts on this food icon. Hopefully you'll also get to learn some pretty cool facts along the way too. Enjoy!
1- Kellogg's has been to the moon! Yep the Apollo 11 astronauts brought a Kellogg cereal to the moon, as part of their breakfasts during the mission.
The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 154

Searching high and low for any available materials like a stranded island dweller, we find ourselves thinking up and creating one of the most seaworthy rafts our eyes have ever seen. Complete with mast, sails, figurehead and all strapped down to take on even the toughest of seas, we'll set sail this weekend into the weird and wonderful world of some of the most iconic retro movies ever to be seen and will drop anchor at only the finest showings as we sit back to enjoy some of the best celluloid wonder from the 80s, 90s and 00s.

Doing our bit for charity.....
The TruffleShuffle team are taking part in our local Raft Race this weekend to help raise much needed funds for the RNLI Portishead Lifeboat .
Our MD's son was the youngest person to have ever been rescued by the fantastic team of volunteers at just 6 weeks old so it's a cause which is very close to our hearts. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, their lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved at least 140,000 lives and volunteers make up 95% of the charity, including 4,600 volunteer lifeboat crew members and 3,000 volunteer shore crew. The RNLI needs to raise a whopping £335,000 every day to run the 235 lifeboat stations and 163 lifeguarded beaches so we're hoping to raise as much as possible to support this fantastic charity.
We're going for a Goonies theme for our raft and are hoping to come up with something One Eyed Willie would be proud of (pics to follow soon!)
We'll be battling our way across the lake and around the island to the finishing line and with prizes awarded for the winning rafts as well as the âBest Dressed Raftâ, âBest Designed Raftâ and âMost Sponsorship Raisedâ, we've gotta win something right? If not - our MD will be walking the plank!
If you'd like to show your support for this fantastic charity and help us on our way to raising our target of £2,500, please visit our Just Giving page here. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving â theyâll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, theyâll send your money directly to the charity. So itâs the most efficient way to donate â saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Each month we corner kindly ask a member of the team and interrogate politely ask them a few questions to help uncover who they are, what they do and just what makes them tick. Itâs that simple!
This post we're taking some time out to introduce another of our warehouse superheroes and all round crazy creative Chris! Enjoy and good luck Chris!
What do you do here at Truffle Towers?
I work in the warehouse, doing anything from receiving stock and booking it into our system through to picking and packing all the orders we get and having it ready to be shipped out to the customers, and everything in between. That and drinking too much coffee, asking stupid questions and generally making a nuisance of myself.
